I am Teresa Guthmiller and I am a licensed psychotherapist in downtown Colorado Springs working with all ages and cultures. 

 

You are probably here because you are curious to the idea of therapy and how it may fit into and benefit your life. 

 

Let me tell you a bit about myself to help you with making the important decision of choosing a therapist. 

 

I love working with people who are finding their way in life, discovering new potentials, healing past wounds, looking for empowerment, decreasing family conflict, improving their parenting skills and so much more.  I believe we have more control over our lives then we give ourselves credit for and I enjoy helping people find that empowerment. 

 

Life is tough; I believe that most (if not all) people can benefit from seeing a caring and competent therapist. I do like to challenge clients to be the best they can be therefore, personal insight will be gained and it will be up to you to apply the therapeutic knowledge into your life.  

 

I have worked in various settings such as residential facilities, group homes, homeless shelters, facilitating parenting classes, and in nonprofit agencies providing therapy with for both individuals and families.   

 

I do not follow just one therapeutic model. Instead, I assess the individual situation and apply interventions that I see fit the individual or family best.  How can just one theory fit everyone?  I have never understood that.

 

People are so different and have such different experiences in life, I believe therapy should be individualized to met your needs.  I do utilize Cognitive-Behavioral, Reality, and Humanistic approaches most often.  

 

I provide therapy for the following reasons: depression, anxiety, family/martial conflict, parenting, youth/juvenile problem sexual behaviors, sexual abuse victims, self-esteem issues, weight struggles, life slumps and so much more.
